Two food businesses were ordered to close after environmental health officers found they posed a danger to public health.

The Zhong Xing Chinese takeaway in Banagher, Co Offaly, and Pat's Corner Shop, 1 Ross Street, Dublin 7, were both ordered to shut down in February, according to the Food Safety Authority's latest bulletin.

The FSAI said closure orders are served when it is deemed that there is, or there is likely to be, "a grave and immediate danger to public health" at the premises.

FSAI chief executive Dr John O'Brien said it is essential for all food businesses to adhere to their legal obligation to implement and enforce a vigilant system of food hygiene practices.
