London - Switzerland was last night accused of herding thousands of Jewish refugees into forced labour camps during the second World War. A report by Channel 4 News also alleged it was the wartime Swiss government which asked Germany to put the letter J on the passports of its Jewish citizens, so that they could be easily identified when they crossed the border into neutral Switzerland, and either deported back to Germany or sent to Swiss labour camps.
Channel 4 News reported that US lawyers are preparing suits against Switzerland on behalf of Jews who suffered in Swiss camps.
