Ankara - Twenty-one political parties will fight Turkey's general and local elections on April 18th, the election commission said yesterday, with the pro-Islamic Virtue party the frontrunner to win both polls. The vote was due in December 2000 but was brought forward amid pressure from the left-wing Republican People's Party which supported the minority coalition government of the former prime minister, Mr Mesut Yilmaz.
