Tullow Oil said today it has made a “substantial” oil discovery at the Nsoga-1 exploration well in the Butiaba region of Uganda.

Nsoga-1 is the seventh successful test of the Victoria Nile Delta within the Lake Albert Rift Basin, Tullow said in a statement today.

The well was drilled approximately six kilometres (3.7 miles) horizontally

from the top of the structure, to a total depth of 755 meters. It’s now being suspended as a future oil producer and the rig will move to test the Awaka prospect with drilling scheduled to start this month.
