The Ulster Unionist Party leader, Mr David Trimble, has been elected by the Constituency Association to head the five man team of candidates in the Northern Ireland election on May 30th.

The other candidates will be Mr Samuel Gardiner, Lurgan Mr George Savage, Donacloney Mr John Dobson, Banbridge and Mr Mark Neale, Portadown.

Mr Jim Nicholson MEP told the delegate meeting in Lurgan this would be the most important election to be held since Northern Ireland was established as a state within the United Kingdom.

Every unionist vote, he said, would be needed to preserve the Union.
