The North's First Minister Designate, Mr David Trimble, is backing a call for an inquiry into the murder of leading Portadown loyalist Billy Wright, who was shot dead by three members of the INLA in the Maze prison in December 1997.
Wright's father, David, said at Stormont yesterday he was, "more than pleased" with the outcome of his discussion with Mr Trimble. "Mr Trimble has told me he has raised my concerns with Dr Mowlam, she has undertaken to respond within a week. The support of the Ulster Unionist party is a significant development as it now gives my campaign the backing of both the `Yes' and `No' sections within Unionism.
Mr Wright added that he sought support from all shades of political opinion for his campaign.
