Tribunal legal team get €3.13m

The senior members of the Moriarty (Payments to Politicians) tribunal’s legal team earned €3

The senior members of the Moriarty (Payments to Politicians) tribunal’s legal team earned €3.13 million in the January 2009 to February 2010 period, according to figures from the Department of An Taoiseach.

Barristers Jerry Healy and Jacqueline O’Brien earned €966,804 and €993,729 respectively, while their colleague John Coughlan earned €842,840. Tribunal solicitor Stuart Brady earned €333,775. The figures include VAT.

The tribunal was thought to have finished its hearings three years ago but now looks as if it could continue for another year if not longer. Third party legal fees, which will not be submitted until the tribunal completes its work, are likely to be a multiple of the tribunal’s own legal fees.
