The trial of the Dublin Bus driver charged in connection with the deaths of five pedestrians has been set for April 24th, 2006.

Kenneth Henvey (48), Whitethorn Crescent, Clon dal- kin, is charged with dangerous driving causing the deaths of five people at a bus stop on Welling- ton Quay on February 21st, 2004.

Counsel for Mr Henvey told Judge Desmond Hogan at the Circuit Criminal Court in Dublin that his legal team needed more time as they were still translating digital video footage from the scene of the accident.

The judge said it was imperative to secure a trial date as he anticipated it would be lengthy with possibly over 100 witnesses.

He added that Mr Henvey's legal team had already been given sufficient time before setting the trial date for April. Legal counsel for Mr Henvey said his legal team may wish to create a reconstruction of the accident during the trial and would require video viewing facilities.
