A 12-year-old girl who recently received heart and lung transplants in Harefield Hospital, England, has died in London. Emma Manogue, daughter of Liam and Mary Manogue of Kyle, Freshford, Co Kilkenny, died at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital on Saturday. Less than a month after the operation, complications set in last week and Emma was transferred to Great Ormond Street. Efforts to save her failed. When she was less than a year old Emma was diagnosed as having cystic fibrosis. Last April she was informed by doctors that she would need a transplant within the next 18 months. Initially she had made extraordinary advances after the double transplant.
