LONDON - A leading Conservative politician, Mr John Redwood (right), yesterday launched a book attacking a single European currency but denied that he was at odds with colleagues in Britain's ruling party.
Mr Redwood, a right wing "Eurosceptic" who challenged the Prime Minister, Mr Major, for leadership of the Conservative Party in 1995, launched his book - Our Currency, Our Country - with little fanfare in a London bookshop.
"A single currency on the fudged basis currently on offer would be extremely damaging for Britain," he told reporters. "It would mean lost jobs and higher taxation."
