An 18-month-old boy was in a serious condition in hospital yesterday after being badly burnt when a car in which he was playing burst into flames. The toddler was playing in the car on his own when it ignited at a Travellers' halting site at Breda near Killeagh outside Youghal in east Cork at about 7.30 p.m. on Sunday.
Two units of Youghal Fire Brigade fought the blaze. The baby was brought by ambulance to Cork University Hospital.
