A Tipperary man has been further remanded in custody in connection with the stabbing of a shop manager in New Ross in Co Wexford last week.

43-year-old Mr Francis Guilfoyle, of no fixed abode and also with an address of 3 Kennedy Park, Thurles appeared before New Ross Court in connection with the assault on Ms Diane Hamilton in New Ross on January 28th last.

Mr Guilfoyle who appeared before Judge Gerard Haughton at New Ross Court today was remanded in custody to appear at Clover Hill Prison on March 3rd next.

The defendant had pleaded guilty but insane to assaulting Diane Hamilton at Whispers Boutique in the town and with robbery at an earlier sitting of the court.
