Three new chiefs for departments

The Cabinet yesterday agreed the appointment of three new government department secretaries general.

The assistant secretary at the Department of Public Enterprise, Mr Brendan Tuohy, is to succeed Mr John Loughry, Mr Michael Kelly, assistant secretary at the Department of Health and Children, is to succeed Mr Jerry O'Dwyer, and Mr Philip Furlong, assistant secretary at the Department of Finance, is to succeed Mr Tadhg O'hEalaithe at the Department of Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands. They will take up their positions next month.
