A 21-year-old cyclist died yesterday following a road collision in Dublin city centre.
The collision between the cyclist and a taxi took place on the junction of Westmoreland Street and O’Connell Bridge shortly before midnight on Tuesday.
The cyclist was taken to St James’s Hospital where he died from his injuries yesterday morning. He was one of three men cycling on Westmoreland Street at the time of the incident.
Gardaí have appealed to witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw the other cyclists to contact them at Pearse Street on 01-6669000.
Two people died in separate road crashes on Tuesday night.
A 75-year-old woman died when the car in which she was a passenger collided with another car on the Castlemaine to Firies village road (R561) in Co Kerry at 10.45pm.
The drivers of both cars were taken to Tralee General Hospital, where they were described as in serious but stable condition.
A 41-year-old man died when his car collided with another car on the N81 at Hempstown, Blessington, Co Wicklow. The crash happened at about 8.30pm.
