A woman was killed in a freak accident in Co Limerick when she was struck by a wheel

A woman was killed in a freak accident in Co Limerick when she was struck by a wheel. She was walking on a footpath after leaving the church in Abbeyfeale at about noon on Saturday when the wheel from the trailer of a passing articulated milk tanker came off and struck her on the head.

She was named as Mrs Laurie Colbert (66), Mountmahon, Abbeyfeale. She was the mother of three children.

A man died after being knocked down by a car in Dun Laoghaire last night. Gardai were not releasing his name early today.

A 38-year-old man who was killed when he was struck by a car near Bunratty, Co Clare, has been named as Mr John Ryan, single, of Portdrine, Cratloe.
