Three men are expected to appear at Portlaoise District Court this morning charged in connection with an assault that left three student gardai injured.
The incident at The Mall, Templemore, occured when the five student gardaí were attacked by a number of youths, who were allegedly carrying weapons. Three gardaí were taken to hospital.
A fourth man who had been arrested wasreleased on bail last night.
