Two men and a woman were arrested in Co Galway yesterday after explosive material and firearms were found in two separate searches.
Gardaí arrested a man (48) after explosives were found in an outbuilding on lands in Monivea. A handgun and three shotguns were found in a farmhouse at the same location.
An Army unit removed the explosive material.
In a follow-up operation, gardaí searched a house in Tuam and recovered a firearm. A man and a woman in their 40s were arrested and are being detained at Galway Garda station.
