The organisers of a write in campaign for peace in Northern Ireland received more than 10,000 letters and postcards in their first postal delivery yesterday, just a day after they launched their appeal.

Gavin and Margaret Maxwell, from Bangor, Co Down, are hoping to receive one million letters in their "No More Violence" campaign by next Friday. The address for correspondence is No More Violence, PO Box 4, Bangor BT19 6LU, Co Down.
