Thieves rob Dublin cash-transit van

An armed robbery took place today on a cash in transit van at Donaghmede Shopping Centre in north Dublin.

The robbery occurred at about 10.15am as employees were delivering cash to an ATM and were approached by two people.

According to gardaí, the thieves, who wore balaclavas and are believed to have had a firearm, left with a large sum of money in a black 07 C four-by-four vehicle and went in the direction of Clare Hall, Coolock.

A number of cash boxes were later recovered from under a car at Clonrosse Drive in Coolock, gardaí said. At least one of the boxes sprayed dye when it was opened.
