What Bertie Ahern told the tribunal about a lodgement of £24,838.49 in October 1994.

In a report given to the tribunal on Ahern's behalf on April 21st, 2006:The lodgement was made up of £16,500 given by four friends, with the rest being the Irish punt equivalent of an unknown amount of sterling given to Mr Ahern in Manchester.

In a report given on Ahern's behalf to the tribunal on April 4th of this year:Exactly the same explanation as a year earlier.

Ahern yesterday in evidence:The friends gave him what "I believe amounted to £16,500 . . . I did not count these monies . . . I cannot say with mathematical precision how much Irish cash was then lodged . . . It is likely the cash sum . . . was added to by other cash".
