THE Taoiseach, John Bruton, was open the very inspiring Miro Grabador exhibition at the National Gallery on Wednesday night. He was, apparently, delayed elsewhere, so a Spanish guitarist was found to entertain the guests who, in a very literal interpretation of an opening party, were not allowed upstairs into the exhibition until the Taoiseach actually arrived to metaphorically cut the tape. (Usually at art openings everyone mills around enjoying the show and at some point some dignitary or other gets up to say a few words.)
Delicious Spanish delicacies and copious amounts of wine were served to the crowd which included actress Tara Quirke, writer Maureen Cairnduff, antiques expert Roxane Moorehead, Javier Odriozola from the Cervantes Institute, Rosa Garcia Brage who came from Madrid for, the evening and the Spanish Ambassador Fermin Zelada and his very stylish wife, Kika.
