One deputy looking forward to the summer recess more than most (and that's saying a lot), is Wicklow independent Mildred Fox, who is getting married in Rome on July 17th.
Her fiance is Darryl Tighe from Kilmacanogue, a plasterer with the OPW specialising in ornamental restoration and he may even, she thinks, have worked on the ceilings of Leinster House. After a 10-day honeymoon in Italy, the couple, who have been going out together for three years, will live in a bungalow they are building at Red Lane on the slopes of the Sugarloaf. Her new status will in no way affect her political career, Fox told Quidnunc this week. "He would never put me off politics; in fact he would encourage me," she said. So those Wicklow hopefuls can forget it. She will be fighting the next election.
