Ms Justice Mary Laffoy has granted an application by Tesco Ireland at the High Court for leave to serve short service of injunction proceedings against Dunnes Stores over advertisements that ran in the national media.
Ciaran Lewis, for Tesco, said Dunnes was not fairly comparing prices in three advertisements and was acting in breach of consumer protection legislation.
Counsel said correspondence from Tesco asking Dunnes Stores to desist from running the advertisements had been ignored, and it was anticipated the same advertisements might be run again over the weekend.
Mr Lewis also said the Consumer Protection Agency would be notified about the proceedings.
