REIGNING ROSE of Tralee Aoife Kelly will perform one of her last engagements tomorrow when she officially opens the 11th Annual Terryglass Arts Festival.

She will be accompanied by Mayor of North Tipperary Denis Ryan, who will officially welcome visitors and artists to the Tipperary beauty spot for five days of music, dance, street theatre, workshops and entertainment.

This year’s festival has been themed “piggy bank” and ticket prices for the various events and workshops are “guaranteed recession proof”.

“Conscious of the current economic situation, we have deliberately kept ticket prices low with prices for the workshops starting from as a little as €2 per child.

“Our street theatre events are completely free of charge and offer fantastic entertainment for all the family,” said festival chairwoman Valerie Cotter.

Headline acts performing during the five-day festival include comedian PJ Gallagher on Thursday and singer/songwriter Brian Kennedy who is the main attraction on Friday.

In addition, more than 70 workshops will be held over three days.
