A teenage girl has died after the car in which she was travelling collided with another car at Thornfield, Portumna, Co.Galway this morning.
The crash happened at about 11.25am.
Two women travelling with the teenager were taken to University College Hospital in Galway.
There were four people in the second car two men and two children. Their injuries are not known.
The road at the scene of the crash is closed pending an examination by forensic collision investigators.
Early this morning, an 18-year-old woman was killed when her jeep crashed into the gable end of a house near Keohane's Cross on the Clonakilty to Dunmanway road at Ahagilla.
The young woman was the sole occupant of the jeep and no other vehicles were involved in the crash. It is understood she is from the Timoleague area.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body has been removed to Cork
University Hospital for a postmortem examination.
The road at the scene is closed pending an examination by garda forensic collision investigators.
