Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment Ms Mary Harney today welcomed the creation of 150 new jobs at ClearStream Technologies in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford.

The company, which makes medical devices used in heart surgery, is to create the jobs over the next three years. It employs 97 people at its plant in the town.

Ms Harney said: "Today's announcement is very good news for Enniscorthy and a major boost to the Wexford economy, which has been badly affected by recent job losses.

She said: "The healthcare sector is a key sector of growth for the Irish economy and I am particularly delighted to see that an Irish-owned company has achieved such success and continues to grow and expand in this very important industry".

The Tánaiste said: "The creation of an additional 150 highly skilled jobs is clearly very important to this high technology business which requires continuous research and development to ensure further growth and expansion".

"The new investment by the company with Enterprise Ireland support will provide additional clean-room facilities, more production equipment to meet customer demand, and technology for new product development".

County Wexford has an unemployment rate of 9 per cent, the second highest in the country.
