The Tanaiste, Ms Harney, has been accused of "divorcing" herself from employment problems in Gaeltacht areas of Mayo, a jobs black spot. Mr Chris Birrane, a member of the task force set up after Warners' clothing factory

closed with the loss of 114 jobs, says the people of Erris in north Mayo have been consistently refused a meeting with Ms Harney.

Mr Birrane presented a petition signed by 3,000 people to the Taoiseach on his recent visit to Mayo, requesting immediate action on employment for north Mayo.
