Thousands of homes in the Balroddery-Firhouse area of Tallaght will be without water for much of today, South Dublin county Council has warned.
A major water main in the area was damaged yesterday.
A council spokesman said while some houses would have a limited supply, "a considerable number of homes and businesses" would be without water for most of the day.
