There is still a serious threat of another 24-hour strike by Aer Lingus cabin crew on Friday. Little progress was reported in yesterday's talks at the Labour Court.
It had been hoped that the court would begin tripartite discussions with Aer Lingus management and the two unions representing cabin crew, SIPTU and IMPACT, this morning.
However, six hours of talks with SIPTU yesterday appear to have been difficult and the court is now expected to respond separately to unions and management over the next couple of days.
Whether it will issue any new proposals remains to be seen. As SIPTU branch secretary Mr Tony Walsh said entering yesterday's talks: "If anyone thinks there is a simple solution to this dispute, they are deluding themselves."
Meanwhile, talks aimed at resolving the strike by ground staff at British Midland are due to take place at the Labour Relations Commission tomorrow.
