Colmcille is a full-length piece for seven dancers (left) which charts the psychological journey of a man who learns to control his spiritual pride, anger and impatience and who experiences loss, heartbreak, shame and exile.

It is loosely based on the life of St Colmcille, who lived in Ireland and Scotland in the 6th century and gave up his inheritance of the High Kingship of Ireland to become a monk.

Colmcille is choreographed by Adrienne Brown for New Balance Dance Company under the direction of Kim Brandstrup of Arc Dance Company, London. It is the culmination of a three-year process of research and development under the Firkin Crane's Time Out - Righting Dance programme.
