A 75-year-old Co Antrim man who injured three teenagers when he opened fire with a shotgun after his house was stoned walked free from Belfast Crown Court yesterday with a suspended sentence.

Judge Anthony Hart heard that Albert Ronald New New's home at George Avenue, Ballyclare, had been attacked by young people several times a week for many years. The judge said that were it not for his age an immediate prison sentence would be inevitable.
