Suspected bomb attack in Longford

Gardaí are investigating a suspected petrol bomb attack on a house in Co Longford on Sunday night.

The house is located at Lisfarrell, on the outskirts of Edgeworthstown.

Officers, who arrived after receiving a report of smoke coming from the house at about 9.50pm, discovered a suspicious package at the site.

The Armys bomb disposal squad was then called and arrived at the scene at 11.45pm.

The Army later described the device as an “elaborate hoax” and the site was declared safe at 1.20am.
