Choreographed for Dance Theatre of Ireland by its co-directors Robert Conor and Loretta Yurick, Soul Survivor is premiered in a one-off performance at the Galway Arts Festival, before travelling to Bulgaria, where it will be performed in the Ancient Outdoor Theatre at Plovdiv as part of its European Cultural Month. With a specially created sound/music collage by John Ryan and Fran Hegarty, additional music by Meredith Monk and multi-media projection by Tim Redfern, it uses six dancers in costumes by Irish fashion designer Marc O'Neill. Lit by Marc Gallione, the show explores cultural globalisation, ethnic integrity and the implication of expanding communications technology at the turn of the millennium.
