A major international conference on suicide prevention will open today in Killarney, Co Kerry.
Preventing Suicide Across The Lifespan: Dream and Realitiesis the title of the 24th Biennial Congress of the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP), and the event is being hosted by the Irish Association of Suicidology.
The five-day conference will run until Saturday and is the first time that an IASP congress has taken place in Ireland.
Prevention strategies, deliberate self harm, suicide and the internet, and gender suicide are among the key topics to be discussed.

The official welcome address will be given tonight, and President Mary McAleese will speak to delegates for an hour on Friday morning.
