A Palestinian suicide bomber killed two Israelis and himself and wounded 20 other people this evening in a shopping centre in the Jewish settlement of Karnei Shomron in the West Bank.
The bomber blew himself up in a sitting area near a pizzeria in the settlement, which lies between the Palestinian-ruled cities of Qalqilya and Nablus.
A police spokesman said: "Two Israelis are dead, as well as the suicide bomber. Twenty people have been wounded and there are searches at the moment for other explosives in the area." There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the blast, the latest in a wave of Palestinian suicide attacks carried out during the 16-month-old uprising against Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The explosion came shortly after the Palestinian militant group Hamas said it would avenge the killing of one of its military leaders, Nazih Abu Sabaa earlier today.
