Washington - Researchers have identified for the first time a genetic risk for sudden cardiac death in men, indicating the condition runs in families, according to a study published yesterday in Circulation, the American Heart Association's journal.
Sudden death, which strikes within an hour after the onset of symptoms, occurs almost twice as often in men whose mother or father died suddenly, compared to men whose parents did not die from it, the article said.
