Applied Leaving Cert: A Leaving Cert applied paper asked students a question involving the use of computers even though students in some schools have never used them.

The Vocational Specialism Graphics & Construction Studies exam, held yesterday, had five questions, of which students could pick three. One of the give involved computer-aided design but would have made no sense to students whose schools did not have computers available.

This meant that, in effect, these students could only choose from four questions.

Ms Veronica Harris, ASTI spokeswoman, said the paper was very good, although students were surprised they were not asked to design a room. They were surprised by a question involving a model of a roof-rack.
