Two students involved in a fracas outside the Burlington Hotel nightclub in Dublin paid £500 each to charity yesterday when charges against them were dismissed under the Probation of Offenders Act 1907. Gordon Meehan (20), Birchfield Avenue, Goatstown, Dublin, pleaded guilty to assaulting Barry Cassidy (20), The Birches, Torquay Road, Foxrock, Dublin, during the incident outside Annabel's on August 31st last year. Both also admitted conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.
Dublin District Court heard the incident occurred prior to another incident in which student Brian Murphy (18) died and for which four men have been charged with manslaughter.
