Swim Ireland have confirmed the threatened industrial action at Salthill’s Leisureland Complex, which was due to disrupt this weekend’s international swim meet at the venue, has been postponed.
Strike notice, served by staff last week and scheduled to come into effect tomorrow, has been delayed until Monday at least allowing the prestigious three-day event to go ahead as planned.
With talks aimed at resolving the long-running pay dispute failing to reach agreement, it had been feared the meet may be cancelled. News of the delay was greeted with sighs of relief by Swim Ireland officials who can now concentrate on what promises to be a weekend of world-class competition.
