Harvard professor John Kotter, author of several management textbooks, addressed the Irish Management Institute in their Sandyford, Co Dublin, headquarters yesterday about initiating change within a company.
With the introduction of new technology and increasing globalisation, companies are failing to recognise shortfalls in their own organisations and a result are not functioning efficiently, he told the 220 gathered delegates. Good leadership is needed to recognise and implement the necessary change and help avoid scandals such as those increasingly seen in the business world over the past few years, he said.
