The following statement was issued yesterday by Mr Albert Reynolds TD:
In relation to John Ellis and National Irish Bank, Deputy Albert Reynolds TD is issuing the following statement:
"These events happened ten years ago. I have no specific recollection of making representations on behalf of Mr Ellis to National Irish Bank. If, however, the record shows that I did then I fully accept that that is the case. Any decision by the bank to mitigate Mr Ellis (sic) circumstances would have been up to the bank to make, using its own commercial judgement."
