The State has told the Supreme Court it will pay the legal costs of a Hepatitis C victim who unsuccessfully sought to increase a compensation award made to him by the Hepatitis C Compensation Tribunal.
In a unanimous decision last week the Supreme Court ruled the man was not allowed to appeal the award he received from the Tribunal to the High Court.
Counsel for the Minister for Health told the Supreme Court today the State would pay for the legal costs because of the unique nature of the case. The amount of that bill will be decided by the Taxing Master.
