`Star' journalist dies aged 31

A Star newspaper journalist, Mr Damien Gaffney, died suddenly on Saturday, aged 31.

A Star newspaper journalist, Mr Damien Gaffney, died suddenly on Saturday, aged 31.

A native of Antrim town, he was a former British Press Association Young Journalist of the Year. He also contributed to Express Newspapers, London, Radio Ulster and CNN. He joined the Star in April, having previously been editor of the Irish World newspaper in London from 1996. He edited the paper's new Northern edition.

Mr Gaffney leaves his wife, Michelle, sister Karen, and parents Rosemary and Damien snr.
