The Northern Ireland Audit Office has alleged mismanagement of up to £56 million sterling of public money made available for radical anti poverty initiatives in Belfast. A report to the British parliament alleges poor administrative practices and slipshod spending methods by the Belfast Action Teams (BATs), set up in 1987 by the North's Department of the Environment.
