A one-armed Spanish pensioner who was caught at Dublin Airport with cocaine valued at £70,000 has been jailed for more than four years by Judge Dominic Lynch.

Jose Manuel Riero (58), of Puerto Marinero, Benalmadona, near Malaga, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to having cocaine "for sale and supply valued at £10,000 or more" on September 14th, 1999. The court heard Riero was arrested as he disembarked from a flight from Madrid. He was offered 150,000 pesetas to carry the drugs by an Irishman on the flight with him.
