THE Law Society's Compensation Fund Committee will meet tomorrow to consider proposals which would allow a Dublin solicitor, Mr Denis Murnaghan, to retain his certificate to practise, the High Court heard yesterday.

Mr Eoin Fannon, counsel for Mr Murnaghan, told the President of the High Court, Mr Justice Costello, that conditions to allow Mr Murnaghan to retain his certificate were being met.

Mr Tom Fallon, counsel for the Law Society, said the society's Compensation Fund Committee would consider the case tomorrow.

It would then decide whether to proceed with the application to suspend Mr Murnaghan's certificate to practise.

Mr Murnaghan's certificate to practise as a solicitor was renewed for 1997 so that he could regularise his position up to the High Court hearing on Thursday, January 23rd.

Mr Fannon said he was quite happy that the matter could be settled on that date when he would be seeking an order to set aside the Law Society's application to suspend his client's certificate to practise.
