The body of a 25-year-old Sligo woman who drowned during a kayak trip in southern France was found today, wedged between rocks underwater on the Durance river, French officials said.

She had been part of a group of 16 Irish people going down the river on an adventure holiday.

Her companions noted she was missing during a break and raised the alarm.

Her body was found 250 metres from the spot they had last seen her, still stuck in the kayak.

The identity of the woman has not yet been revealed.
