Sixteen people have been killed on Irish roads this month to bring the number of road deaths this year so far to 224.
This is down 25 on the figure for the same period last year.
Six people have died on Irish roads in the past week.
Motorcycle deaths have increased sharply this year, however, with 39 so far, a figure that accounts for 18 per cent of total road deaths.
