A police officer, his wife and seven children were killed and 23 others wounded in an attack on a housing area for police in northwestern Colombia.
Authorities blamed leftist rebels from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia for the attack in the town of Chigorodo.
"They placed an explosive device in one of the homes inhabited by police officers and their families, and the result is nine dead - a patrol officer, his wife and seven children," said Colonel Jorge Pinto, police commander in Uraba province.
The explosion destroyed two nearby homes and a food warehouse. He said authorities were trying to determine how the bomb - consisting of 65-90 pounds of dynamite - was delivered to the house.
Earlier, seven people died and 12 others were wounded in a bomb attack on suspected guerrillas of the leftist group in a bar in southwest Colombia.
Police blamed right-wing paramilitaries for the attack in Corinto, a municipality in Cauca province.
The explosion killed four and three others died from paramilitary gunshots as they fled, police said.
