Five people are still being questioned after gardaí seized a €1.5 million haul of cocaine in Dublin yesterday.

Two of the men were arrested during the search of a car at Balrothery, Balbriggan, Co Dublin.

The car was stopped by members of the Balbriggan drugs unit who seized €1.5 million worth of cocaine. Two men were then arrested by gardaí during a follow-up search of a house in Balrothery. A fifth person was arrested late last night.

Three of the men are being held at Balbriggan Garda station while the other man is being detained at Swords Garda station. It is not yet known where the fifth person is being held.

In a separate seizure, customs officers seized 6.2kg of herbal cannabis in Rosslare Europort today.

The drugs, which have an estimate street value of €74,000, were found in 15 small packages hidden in the door sills of an Irish-registered Peugeot 607. The vehicle had arrived on the car ferry from Cherbourg, France.

A 22-year-old Polish national living in Ireland is being questioned.
